Many have heard that meditation is a useful activity to balance one’s restlessness or change the state of consciousness. What is being changed and how?

There are yogic meditation techniques, contemplations from Buddhism and Sufi meditations, practices for inner observation originating from Zen masters, and many other traditions. There are also people who try to meditate the way it seems appropriate to them. What is this meditation anyway? If you sit with eyes closed and try to calm down, will you always succeed? If you try to imagine a soothing murmur of the sea and calm flow of water, you may become distracted by thoughts or they may seem to be even louder than before. You may become annoyed by the noise from the next room or the street. It is possible that your thoughts will venture to the past or future and you completely forget how this meditation practice was supposed to be performed.

There is a desire to silence the world, but how? Wouldn’t it be great if there was a button that would create inner silence and dampen all those external distractions. It may also happen that you get a sudden urge to do something useful, not just waste time pointlessly and you will interrupt your meditation. If you can’t go to a secluded place and be alone in a cave, how should you meditate surrounded by noise? Is it even possible to live without participating in the world?

Did you know that worrying is meditating on what you don’t want in your life? Can you imagine an endless inner silence and peace that continues not only while sitting in the lotus position with your eyes closed, but while doing completely regular activities? It is possible! In this conversation, Ingvar Villido explains the technique of meditation from the perspective of kriya yoga and leads you to an understanding of the deeper essence of meditation.

ABOUT the Lecturer

Creator of the Art of Conscious Change course series, founder of Human LLC, teacher of kriya yoga, member of the council and founder of the kriya yoga center Lilleoru. He has developed and taught the application of consciousness since 1992, having as a result of this work, updated the ancient knowledge of kriya yoga to a level that is understandable and practically applicable to all modern people. His lectures and courses have been attended by a total of more than 15,000 people from Estonia and abroad, including representatives of various fields, from students to entrepreneurs and top managers.
