THIS EVENT IS PART OF A LECTURE SERIES WITH INGVAR VILLIDO

4 August 2020  07.00 pm – 08.30 pm (EEST – Estonian time)

All people feel some anxiety in response to stress. More during some situations or periods in life and less during others. Is anxiety before an exam, sports competition, travel, or public speaking a familiar thing? What about reading the news about disease outbreaks? Does it cause tension, scary thoughts, or imaginations? An upset in the stomach, tension in the head, palpitations, difficulty breathing, nausea, worrying, fear of losing control … Do you feel the need to stay up to date with health news? Are you like a living encyclopedia who knows exactly how many and where got infected? And when you google, then in addition to the latest news about covid-19, do you tend to stumble upon a multitude of new diseases and diagnoses that make you anxious? What if I get sick? You’re on high alert to the reactions of your body and can easily find confirmation from Dr. Google that you most likely have a fatal illness. And even if not deadly, it is definitely something very serious! You look for additional information that would help you to calm down, trying to dispel the most frightening thoughts and images? Anxiety becomes a problem when our thoughts claim that there is a danger when in reality there is none. Do you believe that it is possible to have a long healthy, peaceful and joyful life? What if you could manage your inner world and your own health by yourself so that no external situation could affect you? Experts claim that anxiety disorders are underdiagnosed, health anxiety affecting around 12% of people and according to various studies, as many as 28% of people experience anxiety disorders during their lifetime. Many illnesses are considered to be the result of stress, emotions and feelings such as anxiety, fear and sadness. What is the cause of anxiety? Why do we experience tensions, stress and burnout? Why do we worry? What is meant with the saying: a healthy body hosts a healthy mind? What is the foundation of good health? How to find balance and joy of living? In this conversation, Ingvar takes a look at the components that affect our health and leads the way towards a healthy and balanced life.
